I;m just curious
I read a long time ago that that maximun transfer speed of pc to xbox was around 8-10 mb/s
i proved this by getting that speed myself
im using a belkin 4 port wireless router.
Over the wireless (using my laptop) i only get 2.2mb/s
then to my amazment today, my whole belief system got rocked

i put in my pc a sata interface card since i didnt have any sata ports.
added a 750mb sata drive to that ,
then started to back up the contents of my xbox to the sata drive.
Using flshfxp i noted the speed
40mb/s !!! wtf !!!
Ive que'd up the same stuff before and its given me a eta of FOREVER... but its saying 3 hours.. have about 400g of data to shift
bouncing a 700mb file in 30sec,!?
its mad !
not sure whats going on here, but its going through the que ok. im hoping theres no data curruption from this speed.
i know the tx speed of a sata drive is faster than IDE, but 45-50mb/s !!
am i being amazed by something standard or is this new?
comments please?

hm, sounds very odd indeed.

The communication with the xbox is done over 100mbit ethernet => max 12.5MB/s.
The payload of ethernet is max 97.5293% => 12.19 MB/s, but if you add FTP overhead you'll get alot less than that, so say 12MB/s as absolute maximum.

A file of 700MB => 700/12 => 58s. Thats the fastest it can go (if no send compression is used, and its not). Sounds quite impossible to send that file in 30s... something odd indeed.

as i thought too
But im not sure if this adds to the readings
one of my boxes has a 500gb drive in it and it was formated with 16 clusters not 32. cud this be the reason y whe speeds where so high?
indeed your are right , the maximum speed i ever got was around 10mb/s, but flashfxp showed mad numbers unless it is at fault? a direct connect from pc or via router gives me 9-10mb.
im foxed.
when transfering data, it did seem to freeze on zero btyes then boom 400mb tranfered, i d think whoooooeeee, then ... eh..
im foxed foxed foxed i tells ya
